I’m a commercial litigation partner at one of the country’s largest law firms—and I’m building something different inside it: a litigation practice where clients know what their dispute will cost before they spend a dollar.
Why?
Hourly billing puts all the risk on the client. If the case gets complicated, you pay more. If the other side drags things out, you pay more. If outside counsel is inefficient, you pay more.
In-house teams have been asking for predictable pricing for years, but the legal industry has been slow to answer. That’s finally changing.
Today, clients have more leverage than ever, and AI is genuinely shifting the cost structure of legal work.
Tasks that used to take ten hours now take two.
Firms willing to pass those efficiencies on to clients through flat-fee pricing can do it profitably in a way that wasn’t possible five years ago. My firm? Willing to partner with clients to pass on and share these efficiencies.
This isn’t a side project for me—it’s the core of my practice; it is essential to what I'm building.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll share what this looks like in practice: from contract review, to ongoing counsel, to litigation itself.
If your legal spend still feels like a black box, I’d love to hear about your experience. DM / email me.
