I’m Emily Logan Stedman—Partner at Husch Blackwell, commercial litigator, former Teach For America 5th grade teacher, two-time bulldog mom, and someone who got married by a federal judge in our amazing federal courthouse.

What I do: I help companies navigate contract disputes—whether it’s the first panicked call, a pre-suit negotiation, or everything from then through a jury trial. My clients are small to mid-sized businesses, start ups and well established companies, family or privately held, and sometimes public companies, too.

My goal: keep litigation from derailing your business, and turn legal risk into a roadmap, not a roadblock.

What I care about (beyond litigation):

Lawyer well-being: I’ve been talking openly about mental health, burnout, and big law realities since before it was trendy. I helped lead Wisconsin’s Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being, I've built a LinkedIn community of 26,000+, and host The Grace Period podcast.

AI and the future of law: I’m all in on legal ops, legal project management, and AI. I believe lawyers who embrace these tools will serve clients—and themselves—better.

Access to justice: Pro bono isn’t an afterthought for me. I’ve challenged unconstitutional juvenile-prison conditions, defended a Sandy Hook family against a conspiracy theorist, and helped first responders with end-of-life planning. This is at the heart of why I practice.

Off the clock: You’ll find me on a tennis court or taking long walks on Lake Michigan, at our family cabin up north, cheering for the Packers (or Brewers, or Rebels, or UGA, or Demon Deacons), hanging with my husband Dave and our English bulldogs, Margot and Oxford.

If you’re new here: I post about litigation, building a sustainable legal career (even in big law), and the future of legal work.

I’m glad you’re here—let’s connect. ♥️🔥✌🏻
