What I do.
It has always been difficult for me to break down what I do as a commercial (or civil) litigator.
Then, in May, Hay Harrington issued his weekly newsletter and explained: "Talk about projects, not practice areas."
The timing of this was perfect, as I have spent 2026 thinking about litigation through the lense of project management (and legal operations).
Litigation projects I routinely handle:
📌 dispute assessment and response strategy (demand letters)
📌 litigation holds and evidence preservation (early eDiscovery assessments)
📌 contract evaluation and assessment (is litigation eminent)
📌 threshold defense strategy (response to complaint)
📌 documents, documents, documents (eDiscovery)
📌 motions, motions, motions (summary judgment, to compel, experts)
📌 negotiations (settlement conferences + mediations)
📌 witness identification, analysis, and prep (depositions)
📌 evidence analysis (pre-trial preparation)
📌 trial (enough said)
I hope, soon, to tell you more about these skills more regularly.
