June 2026 Review
Every month, I spend an hour or so looking back over the last month and preparing for the next.
June was an interesting one--slower.
In late May, I was staring down a potential trial starting July 9--we had asked the Court to move the trial, but had not yet heard back.
So, I was freaking out a little. I asked Claude CoWork (through Microsoft CoPilot) to look at my June calendar and help me remove all non-essential meetings.
24 hours later? The trial got bumped.
Instead of adding all those meetings back, I told myself: You can do less.
That's a hard fact to believe--for high achievers, for time keepers, for those used to a faster pace.
When I look back at June, I'm grateful for the slower pace.
It allowed me to:
🎂 enjoy turning 40--with an afternoon at the spa and a surprise party;
🎂 see Garth Brooks live for a third time--a dream; and
🎂 attend and celebrate our niece's high school graduation.
Professionally, I still:
⌛ led two mediations;
⌛ had fourteen 1:1s with colleagues, mentees, contacts, clients, and more;
⌛ gave a lunch + learn on time management;
⌛ met some new folks as we prepare for an AI panel in July; and
⌛ completed the first drafts of my alternative-fee-arrangement products and a business plan to implement those goals.
This was a "transition" month--a building, foundational month.
When billables slow down, that's when I take advantage of the open space and work on my business, work on building my business.
There's always something to do to propel your career forward. Always.
